Family Friend Says Relatives Shocked After Two Bodies Discovered in Frisco
FRISCO (CBS 11 NEWS) - A family friend tells CBS 11's Jack Fink off-camera that when relatives didn't hear back from Sumeet Dhawan for several days, his brother and brother's friend went to his Frisco house Wednesday afternoon.
The brother's friend says they quickly discovered the body of a woman in the backyard pool, and called 911.
After police arrived, they found a man's body inside the house.
On Thursday, detectives returned to the scene to gather evidence.
While the Collin County Medical Examiner and Frisco police say they won't release the identities until Friday, the bodies are widely believed to be Sumeet Dhawan and his wife Pallavi.
The friend of Sumeet's brother says that relatives are distraught and shocked by what happened.
At this same house on Mountain View Lane this past January, police arrested Mrs. Dhawan for murder after authorities found the couple's ten-year-old son Arnav dead in a bathtub.
Police have said when they asked Mrs. Dhawan if she killed her son, she shook her head yes.
But the couple insisted there was a misinterpretation because of a language barrier.
They said their son died from a seizure, and pointed to the autopsy which indicated he died of natural causes.
The couple said Mrs. Dhawan was trying to preserve the body in line with their Hindu faith until Mr. Dhawan could return from an overseas business trip.
A grand jury was in the process of considering indicting Mrs. Dhawan for murder.
Her criminal attorney, David Finn declined an on-camera interview Thursday, saying he was too distraught about what happened.
Finn says just last week, Mr. Dhawan went before the grand jury for three hours.
Finn says he took that as good news because most grand jury appearances don't last that long.
He says he is now in the process of helping the couple's relatives arrange for their bodies to be returned to India.
