FAA: Drone Comes Close To Southwest Flight

DALLAS(CBSDFW.COM) - The FAA says a drone came within a few hundred feet of the left wing of a Southwest Airlines jet on final approach into Dallas Love Field Friday afternoon.
The FAA says it involved Flight 28 from Houston. The pilot noticed the drone and it was confirmed by the air traffic controller.
The FAA says the pilot "took no evasive action and landed without incident." A controller in the Love Field Air Traffic Control Tower spotted the small, unmanned aircraft aircraft from the tower cab and notified the Dallas Police Department.
Landing traffic was moved to the airport's east runway while a police helicopter searched the area.
The FAA is investigating.
A Dallas police helicopter went up to look for the drone but did not find it.
Two months ago at Love Field, a Virgin America pilot reported a quad-copter came within 200 feet of his jet around 9:30 at night as it came in for a landing. No one was hurt.
Pilots have told CBS11, drones like quad-copters are a big concern because they can be sucked into an engine or hit the cockpit window.
