Police Believe They've Caught The 'Evening Burglar'

COPPELL (CBSDFW.COM) - The elusive 'Evening Burglar' has been arrested by Plano and Dallas Police Detectives.

The "Evening Burglar" is believed to be responsible for burglaries in multiple cities including Plano, Dallas and Allen.

Friday night detectives observed 42-yr-old Corey Caldwell leaving a resident he had just burglarized.

Caldwell and an accomplice, 60-year-old Winston Riden, were arrested by detectives in Coppell after leaving the home.

Caldwell is charged with three counts of burglary of a habitation.

Riden is also charged with three counts of burglary of a habitation.

Both Caldwell and Riden are currently being held at the Carrollton Police Jail.

Several of the "Evening Burglars" victims told CBS11 News they are happy to hear of the arrest but few expect to ever get their stolen items back.

"The gold is melted down, the stone have been reset – it's long gone," said Drew Karras, whose Plano home was burglarized by the "Evening Burglar" in December.

The arrest was a joint effort by detectives from the Plano Police Department, Dallas Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety as well as the Coppell Police Department.

Plano Police Chief Gregory W. Rushin stated, "Criminals sometimes go from city to city to avoid detection and arrest, so police departments must work closely together."

This investigation remains on-going.
