MANSFIELD (CBSDFW.COM) - Parts of a strip mall in Mansfield were evacuated for more than an hour after a suspicious package was found near a Target store.

A spokesperson with the Mansfield Police Department confirmed the call about the package, outside the store on the U.S. 287 frontage road, came in just after 9:00 a.m.

First-responders found the package near a trashcan and made the decision to get people out of the area. Evacuations sent customers and store employees out into the far end of the parking lot.

Bomb sniffing dogs were brought in and it was determined the package was actually a suitcase. Police quickly learned the case was empty and there was no threat. The 'all clear' was given around 10:40 a.m. and employees and shoppers were allowed to return to the evacuated businesses.
