DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -- A North Dallas football team was celebrating its regional championship win this weekend in San Antonio when thieves broke into the team's van and stole thousands of dollars worth of equipment.

The North Dallas Raiders are part of a non-profit group called the North Dallas Youth Program.

As they celebrated at a Main Event in San Antonio on Sunday, thieves made off with uniforms, shoulder pads, and a number of personal belongings.

"It's huge. It was a lot of effort, time, fundraising," says Dante Ratcliff, the team's athletic director. "A lot of things were put into the money to get that equipment, and it's going to be hard to get that back."

Also lost in the theft were birth certificates, report cards, and waivers with parent signatures which allow the children to play.

The team, which relies heavily on volunteers and donations, will have to find a way to raise more money.
