NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A 76-year-old Mesquite man has been sentenced to 240 months in federal prison, after pleading guilty to one count of receipt of child pornography.
Robert Bruce Lloyd admitted that he had collected child pornography for 30 years.
It was in January of last year when the FBI learned a specific IP address, later identified as Lloyd's, was downloading and sharing files that were believed to contain child pornography. After special agents searched Lloyd's home, officials found more than 1000 images and videos of child pornography on his computer and other media devices.
After the search warrant discovery, Lloyd admitted that he had received and was in possession of images that included bondage and sadistic acts involving minors. During his sentencing hearing, U.S. District Judge Sidney A. Fitzwater said the pictures were some of the worst he had ever seen.
The case was investigated and prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice, to combat what official's call "the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse."
