Earthquake Strikes Near Farmers Branch

FARMERS BRANCH (CBSDFW.COM) -- The USGS confirms that a magnitude 3.3 earthquake struck at 1:14 p.m. centered three miles SSW of Farmers Branch.
People in Irving, Farmers Branch, Coppell, Richardson, and even downtown Dallas reported feeling the quake.
"Yes in Las Colinas it was biggest so far, and long," said Maggie Parker Thomson on Facebook.
"We had a loud rumble and then the house shook. It took a little bit, for the ceiling fans to stop swinging," commented Sofia Cristee.
There are no reports of damage or injuries from the latest quake.
In January, nine quakes were registered in less than 24 hours by the USGS in Irving.
A 4.0 magnitude quake hit near Johnson County on May 7, the largest quake to ever hit Texas. That rekindled the debate over the role of fracking in North Texas' increased seismic activity.
Historic Earthquakes Spur Action Over Fracking
Geologists have been researching "induced-earthquakes" -- or those events that "may be associated with human activities such as the disposal of waste-water in deep wells," otherwise known as fracking.
