Drug Trafficker Sentenced To 27 Years After 1,900 Pounds Of Meth Found

NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW) - A Mesquite man has been sentenced to nearly 30 years in prison after being caught with a large amount of methamphetamine in his home.
24-year old Jose Farias Lopez plead guilty in October to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute - and to distribute a controlled substance. He was sentenced to 27 1/2 years in prison.
Lopez was also ordered to forfeit nearly $36,000 in cash proceeds from the distribution of the methamphetamine, two semi-automatic handguns and assorted ammunition, and a 2011 Mazda SUV.
Authorities searched Lopez's Mesquite home back in April 2014 and found about 1,900 pounds of methamphetamine.
Lopez told police his job was to package and prepare the drug for sale. He also gave up other names of people in the drug ring.
Investigators say the drug seizure at Lopez's house was one of the largest methamphetamine busts ever in the U.S.
