Driver Who Allegedly Ran From Scene Of Deadly Crash In Plano Arrested

PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) - Plano Police arrested a man they say took off after being involved in a deadly crash, five days after the crash.

Police say around 1:15 a.m. on New Year's Day,  there was a 3-vehicle traffic crash at Preston Road and Hedgcoxe Road.

On Wednesday, January 6, 2016, Plano Police Traffic Investigators arrested the driver who had run from the scene.  Police say Jason Jude Benoit, 31, has been charged with Manslaughter, Accident Involving Death – Fail to Stop, Return, Remain at Scene, 4-counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and 4-counts of Accident Involving Injury.

He is currently being held at the Collin County Detention Center.

The investigation continues.
