Driver Who Led Deputy On Pursuit Dies After Crashing

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - According to the Dallas County Sheriff's Office, a suspect who led a deputy on a pursuit died after crashing while trying to exit Highway 183 at Carl Road and the vehicle catching fire.

A deputy attempted to make a traffic stop at I-35 and Inwood for speeding, and the driver failed to stop, which led a chase.

The deputy was the only one chasing the suspect according to the Dallas County Sheriff's Office.

According to officials, the deputy eventually lost sight of the vehicle and was about the call off the chase. The deputy then spotted the vehicle engulfed in flames.

Officials said the vehicle crashed after trying to exit Highway 183 at the Carl Road exit.

The deputy used fire extinguishers to try and put the fire out while the suspect was unconscious in the vehicle.

The deputy was unable to put the fire out, and the suspect died at the scene.

The suspect has not yet been identified.
