DPS Trooper Seizes More Than 44 Pounds Of Pot

WICHITA FALLS (CBSDFW.COM) – The Texas Department of Public Safety conducted a traffic stop Monday on US-287, yielding more than 44 pounds of marijuana valued at over $268,000.

At approximately 7:54 p.m., a DPS trooper conducted a traffic stop on a 2013 Chevrolet Impala traveling eastbound on US-287, for a traffic violation, near Iowa Park in Wichita County.

The driver of the Impala was identified as Omar De La Fuente, 22, of Austin. During the traffic stop, the trooper discovered two black suitcases of marijuana in the car.

De La Fuente and his passenger, Colin Michael Spradlin, were placed under arrest for possession of marijuana over 5 pounds less than 50 pounds, a third degree felony, and booked into the Wichita County jail. They were allegedly transporting the illegal drugs from Sacramento, Calif., to Austin.
