DPD Arrests Alleged Officer Impersonator

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - An off-duty Dallas police officer in his personal car was passed early Wednesday morning by a suspicious vehicle flashing red and blue lights.

It happened around 4:05 a.m. on eastbound at I-30 E. R. L. Thornton Freeway near Dolphin Road.  The officer felt suspicious about the vehicle, he pulled over to the shoulder of the road, and called 9-1-1.

The unmarked vehicle was a Chevrolet pickup truck with Texas license plate CZX-6848, and continued to drive past him.

The officer notified the 9-1-1 call taker and followed the vehicle into Mesquite where on-duty Mesquite officers stopped and detained the driver, Charles Troutman, 22.

Troutman was arrested and taken to Dallas Police Headquarters and subsequently charged with Impersonating a Public Servant (3rd Degree Felony) and Possession of Marijuana.
