DPD Arrests 2 After Shooting Leaves Woman Dead, Man Injured

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas police have arrested two people after a shooting, in the 4800 block of East Grand Avenue, left one person dead and another injured.

The shooting, that police believe was an attempted robbery, happened at a strip mall just after 5 a.m. Dallas police received several 911 calls reporting gunfire.

According to authorities, one person, a Hispanic woman, was shot and died at the scene. A Hispanic male was shot in the leg. He was taken to Baylor Medical Center. His condition isn't known.

The Dallas County Medical Examiner was called to the scene.

Police say two Hispanic, male suspects fled the scene on foot, but were located and taken into custody in the 1300 block of South Fitzhugh Avenue -- about one block from the shooting scene.

A friend of one of the shooting victim's said the man who was shot in the leg is a manager at the Vapourize & Electronic Accessories store, and the female victim worked at the store on-and-off. According to the friend, the suspects went to the store to play on the video poker machines, but once inside pulled out a gun, demanded money, and then shot the victims multiple times.

Officials with the Dallas Police Department have not yet identified the victims and say their investigation is ongoing.
