FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Downed power lines forced the closure of East Loop 820 in far east Fort Worth on Thursday afternoon. The incident happened shortly before 11:00 a.m. near the highway's intersection with Randol Mill Road.

According to Steve Enright with the Fort Worth Police Department, the power lines came down across both the north and south sides of the freeway. Kyle Falkner with the Fort Worth Fire Department added that a big rig is believed to have become snagged on the power lines, bringing them to the ground.

There were no reports of injuries.

Some energy customers did lose power during this incident, but it has since been restored. Crews from Oncor responded to the scene in order to reset a wooden pole and repair the broken wires. However, there is no estimate for how long it might take to resolve this issue.

In the meantime, drivers are urged to avoid the area. Check the traffic section for the latest updates and to seek alternate routes.
