Double Rollover Crash Knocks Out Power In Fort Worth

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Many people across North Texas woke up Wednesday morning without electricity after severe storms on Tuesday night. But the weather was not responsible for a power outage in Fort Worth at around 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday. That was the result of a double rollover crash.
The incident happened near the intersection of Miller Avenue and Pierce Street. Police have not confirmed many details about the actual crash, but a witness described what she saw. "It started down at the store. One tried to flee the scene and, when she got in her car to run away, the SUV ran her off the road," said Natasha McKinney. "They had this big car wreck."
The crash knocked a power pole to the ground and forced officials to turn off electricity to the area.
One vehicle was flipped upside down when it came to a stop. It lost a wheel during the crash, which went on to hit the door of a nearby church. The second smashed vehicle stopped on the other side of the road. One victim was injured after being thrown from one of the vehicles. Early reports stated that another victim had to rescued from the wreckage.
Further details about the crash and the victims have not yet been released.
Meanwhile, crews with Oncor have been at the scene attempting to restore electricity to the area. Workers will have to totally replace the broken pole. There is no estimated time for how long these repairs will take, but it is expected to be a while before residents and businesses in the area have power again.
