The concept of a community kitchen that uses locally sourced organic food and lets you pay what you'd like is different to say the least. That is the concept behind the year old community project and restaurant in Denton called Dorothy's Kitchen Table.
"It's mostly organic. The main idea is that we cooperate with farms in Denton" said volunteer and one of the coordinators John Betten of Dorothy's Kitchen Table.
The fully volunteer staff makes breakfast on Tuesdays and Thursdays, then dinner on Fridays and Saturdays. At the end of the meal, what you pay depends on you.
"It is up to every person who comes in to decide how, and I guess really if they want to contribute. Maybe you can't give money but you can volunteer in the garden, you can share your poetry" John added.
Farmers, cooks, helpers and friends, the spirit of community is what unites these wonderful individuals. You will definitely leave Dorothy's Kitchen Table full of delicious locally grown food and richer for the experience of love you'll find as your after dinner treat.
