Donations Needed For Stormy The Dog's Parents

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - It's a new year and a new life for the puppy that was rescued from a storm drain in November.  After his rescue, Stormy lived at Dallas Animal Services for about a week until a drawing could be held to find the popular pooch a home.

But Stormy's parents are a different story.  They are still making their home at DAS and in need of special attention and training, according to the organization.

Dallas Animal Services posted a message from Stormy on its Facebook page asking for donations that might help find his parents a home.

"My mom and dad are still at Dallas Animal Services and they're not doing well, so we need your help. You see, they lived on their own for so long, they've forgotten the joys of being part of a family. Taking care of my brothers and sisters and I out on the streets, and depending on the kindness of strangers for handouts - well, it took a lot out of them. They are sweet and I love them both very much - but they are scared and confused."

The post goes on to say that DAS has secured two spots for Stormy's parents at the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah, where the two dogs will get the training and attention they need.  Transportation for the trip will be provided by a local pilot, who volunteered to fly the dogs in his private plane.  But DAS will have to cover the cost of fuel for the trip which is $1400.

Stormy's human parents have contributed the first $100.  The rest will need to be raised over the next few days.  DAS is accepting donations online (choose the Dallas Animal Services fund and put Stormy's parents in the memo) or through the mail  at PO Box 793574, Dallas, Texas 75379.
