DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A domestic dispute led to police pursuing a suspect along a route nearly eight and a half miles long, from one part of Dallas to another. It began at around 12:45 a.m. early Wednesday, after a woman called 911 saying that she was hurt by her boyfriend.

The woman told law enforcement officials that her boyfriend punched her during a verbal argument, and then struck her with his SUV as he tried to leave. Authorities arrived at the scene, located in the 3800 block of Morningview Drive in southeast the Oak Cliff area, and saw the suspect's white SUV starting to speed away. Police followed the suspect.

The chase ended in the 2000 block of Gospel Drive, in the Red Bird area of Dallas, at the home of the suspect's mother. There, he got out of his vehicle and went inside. Officers followed the man into the home and took him into custody.

The suspect was later identified as 25-year-old Devon White. He has now been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and evading arrest. The case remains under investigation. The victim, meanwhile, was treated by Dallas Fire-Rescue and has since been released.
