DISD Board Asks TEA, AG To Investigate Miles-Nutall Incident

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas ISD school trustees voted late Thursday to ask the Attorney General's office and the Texas Education Agency to investigate a conflict between Superintendent Mike Miles and Board member Bernadette Nutall.
That conflict, caught on surveillance video, shows Nutall being escorted out of a meeting at Dade Middle School last month at Miles' request.
The unanimous vote Thursday would authorize the TEA commissioner to seek an AG's opinion on whether the superintendent has the power to remove a trustee from district property.
On October 13 Nutall tried to attend a meeting about staff firings at Dade, a meeting that Miles was leading. He asked Nutall to leave, but she refused. That is when Miles had DISD police officers take her away from the campus. Nutall has since filed a complaint with the Dallas County District Attorney's Office alleging official oppression.
The school board rejected hiring an outside legal team to conduct a fact-finding investigation into the incident.
