DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The Dallas Independent School District Board of Trustees voted Thursday night to make recess mandatory for all elementary schools.

According to the new rules, students will get at least 20 minutes each day for the rest of this year.

Next year, recess will last 30 minutes a day.

There is a firm belief by some board members, kids who get time to take a break and play, perform better academically.
