DFW Home Prices Hit Record High
NORTH TEXAS (1080 KRLD) -- Dallas and Fort Worth area home prices have hit a new high.
The numbers from the latest Standard Poor's/Case Shiller home price index show that prices rose in 20 cities across the country. In March, prices were 12.4 percent higher than a year ago nationally.
The Dallas Fort Worth index went up 1.2 percent from February and has jumped 10 percent from March of last year.
"We have never seen a market like this," says longtime realtor Carolyn Jenkins with Ebby Halliday.

She says it's astonishing to learn how many people are relocating to the area, despite the fact that there's a limited number of homes to buy right now.
"You need to get an experienced realtor to set you up on an MLS prospect search," she says. "Also, get your realtor to network with other realtors because homes are selling before they go into MLS. It's kind of like inside track information."
The Case Shiller home index tracks only single-family homes and does not include condominiums and townhouses.
