DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Are you looking for a new ride? Check out dream cars -- while taking notes on the ones that you might actually buy next -- at the DFW Auto Show, which has now rolled into town. The event runs Wednesday through Sunday at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in downtown Dallas.

There are hundreds of vehicles on display at the show, including a $1.6 million Pagani Huarya.

Something that visitors will notice is a stress on safety features in the newest model cars. This has become increasingly important to both car buyers and car makers. "Frontal collision, rear cameras everywhere," explained Jerry Reynolds of radio's Car Pro Show. "Cars are changing so fast, and they are getting much safer."

"We're obsessed about performance," said Tony Greco with Ford. "We're always looking for the next big thing, the next technology, the next set of hardware that is going to enable capability for the customer. That's what performance is."

While shoppers can't actually buy a car at the DFW Auto Show, it is a great way to compare vehicles. Some companies will even offer test drives. And, this is the only place where customers can see some of next year's models like the 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT-350, or the remodeled 2016 Toyota Tacoma.

Toyota, of course, will soon call Plano home, making this event even more special for the company. "Toyota's excited to be joining the Texas family," said Toyota product specialist Vicki O'Brien. "Already started the move to the Plano area, so hopefully it's going to bring a little more significance."
