Dez Cheers In Boxer Charles Hatley's Corner

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Charles 'The Future' Hatley has had a great professional boxing career. He confirmed it himself by saying, "25-1 as a pro right now and actually ready for anybody in the world."
Hatley knows that he has punching power. But what he lacks is star power.
Hatley's father is both his trainer and promoter, but the sport of boxing is one thing. The business of boxing is another, and the local athlete is waiting for his next chance to step into the ring.
"It's frustrating," Hatley said. "But at the end of the day, it's good. We know that I'm one of the top fighters in the world because they ducking me. But I'm 25-1. It's mandatory now. Somebody gotta take this butt whooping. I'm ready to give it."
Hatley might be fighting for the spotlight, but the Dallas welterweight has a heavyweight in his corner. "Dez Bryant, he come over here and train," Hatley said, sharing a tale about crossing his arms in the now trademark 'X' shape. "He seen me in the ring doing this. I been doing it since I was like 13. When I seen him doing it on the field, and I seen him at the fights, I say, 'Hey, Dez, when I'm in the ring doing this, I want you to come up and bump me too.' And he did."
The Dallas Cowboys receiver has become an avid supporter of the Dallas boxing star.
"We have a great relationship," Hatley said.
But while Hatley can call Bryant any time to work out, 'The Future' and other Cowboys fans are hoping that Dez will get a phone call to settle Bryant's current contract dispute. "I always tell Dez, 'Man, just stay focused,'" Hatley stated. "They should give Dez what he want."
And if that happens, 'the future' looks bright for both Bryant and Hatley.
