LEWISVILLE (1080 KRLD) - A Denton man has died after he was struck by a car and knocked into Lake Lewisville last night.

According to police, a car driven by 64-year-old Gholamrez Sabzghabaei stalled on the I-35 bridge around 9:00 p.m. Tuesday.

While Sabzghabaei  was calling for help, a van slammed into his car which, in turn, knocked Sabzghabaei over the rail and into the water.

Witnesses jumped in and managed to bring him to the nearest shoreline where they did CPR until paramedics arrived and took over. But, in the end, it was too late and Sabzghabaei died at the scene.

The driver of the van has not been identified and is listed in serious condition.
