DeMarco Practicing With Cowboys Despite Broken Hand
IRVING, Texas (105.3 THE FAN) - If you listen to 105.3 The Fan, you are not surprised. If you are a teammate of DeMarco Murray, you are not surprised, either.
On Monday, the NFL's leading rusher underwent surgery to repair a broken left hand. On Tuesday, Murray wore a gigantic cast on the hand. But on Wednesday? He was on the Valley Ranch practice field, taking part in individual drills.
Coach Jason Garrett previewed the workout by saying he did not expect Murray to do much during practice. And indeed, I'm told Joseph Randle took a great deal of first-team workload. But in the open-to-the-media portion of the session, Murray's cast was gone, replaced by a Mickey Mouse-sized glove featuring a pad to cover the back of his hand. The Cowboys tested his functionality in pat-and-go drills (in which he caught passes), footwork drills and some team work, in which he took handoffs. "Carrying the football is an important responsibility,'' Garrett said. "You have to be able to do it. I think we all want to see it. I know he wants to see it, so we'll take it day by day and see how it progresses."

The Cowboys practiced without Tony Romo, Doug Free and Zach Martin on offense, the two linemen missing with ankle problems. Rolando McClain and Josh Brent are banged up and did not practice with the defense.
Romo's absence was expected, as it's "Romo Wednesday,'' his customary rest day. And Murray's participation? Expected, too, with Cowboys sources having told 105.3 The Fan they are "optimistic'' he can play for the 10-4 Cowboys against the visiting Colts on Sunday.
