Dash Cam Video Released From Shooting Of UNT Student

DENTON (CBSDFW) - Warnings to back away preceded the shooting death of a UNT student by a campus officer. That according to just released dash cam video of the shooting obtained by CBS 11 News.

This video not shows the officer's attempt to avoid firing his weapon, it also suggest the student may have been suicidal.

As many as eight times you can hear UNT Police Officer Stephen Bean ordering student Ryan McMillan to back away.

McMillan was carrying an axe.

Police say he had just used it to vandalize a car early Sunday morning.

The student can be heard on the video saying shoot me to the officer who fired multiple rounds killing the 21-year-old.

No one so far has been able to publicly explain the young man's erratic behavior that led to his death.

UNT has turned the investigation over to the Texas Rangers.
