ARLINGTON (105.3 THE FAN) - The Texas Rangers have taken another hit in the pitching department due to injury, and the situation isn't going to be fixed overnight.

During the home opener against the Houston Astros, starting pitcher Derek Holland was pulled after the first inning due to a shoulder injury.

Rangers GM Jon Daniels tells 105.3 The Fan despite Holland's designation to the 60-Day DL, he may not be ready by mid June as expected.

"It could be late June, early July before Derek is back on the mound" Daniels told 105.3 The Fan's Ben & Skin Show during his weekly call-in on the Rangers flag-ship station in Dallas.

According to Daniels, Holland won't even throw again until a scan shows the injury is healed. The lefty won't have another scan for at least four weeks. The earliest he could return from the DL is June 10.

When asked about the pitching problems, including losing ace Yu Darvish for the season due to Tommy John surgery Daniels said, "We've had more arms issues in the last two years than we have the previous five years. I don't know 100%, some of may be bad luck, but it's something we need to get our arms around."

Holland and Darvish are among seven Texas Rangers players on the 60-day DL.
