Dangerous Drivers Or Faulty Traffic Signals?

ALLEN(CBSDFW.COM) - As wrecks pile up at a North Texas intersection, residents in the area feel something needs to be changed in order to prevent any other people from getting hurt.

The wrecks have been occurring at the intersection of Hwy 121 and West Exchange Parkway in Allen.

"I just feel like my life has been stolen," said Carly Hart, who was involved in a serious wreck in July.

Hart's son Asher broke his left leg and Hart is still recovering from her head injuries.

"Now it's just, I can't even play with my son because it hurts my head so bad to even look down," said Hart.
Hart soon realized she was not alone. Several other drivers had also been posting photos online of wrecks at the same spot. The most recent wreck happened on Thursday.

"It's mind-blowing. How is there wreck after wreck after wreck?" questioned Hart.

Some drivers feel the light changes too fast and does not alone traffic to fully stop before any direction gets the green light.

The City of McKinney, which controls the traffic signals, said it takes all safety concerns seriously and has launched an investigation into whether any changes need to be made. But according to the most recent survey it did, the signals are timed to the proper guidelines.

Hart feels she is lucky to be alive and is hoping something changes before someone else gets hurt.

"It shouldn't be ruining and stealing people's lives like this," said Hart.

Calls and emails to Allen Police, which is responsible for responding to wrecks at the intersection, were not returned.
