Some Damage After Powerful Winds, Rain And 1 'Brief Tornado' In North Texas
NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - High winds, heavy rain and some hail arrived along with a tornado warning for Denton, Tarrant and Wise Counties early Tuesday evening.
The warning which started around 5:30 p.m. lasted for 90 minutes.
A flash flood warning was also issued for Denton County until 9:00 p.m.
Around 8:45 p.m., the National Weather Service tweeted there was indeed a tornado on the ground, saying, "We can confirm a brief tornado occurred just northeast of the TWU campus in Denton around 6:56 pm. Mostly tree damage was reported. A complete survey of this tornado and other damage areas in Tarrant and Denton counties will be done Wednesday weather permitting.

Viewer Doug Miller tweeted photos of a boat house overturned and trees down at Eagle Mountain Lake with the heading, "Eagle Mountain Lake close to Harbor One Marina."
When CBS 11 reporter Erin Jones got to the scene, she tweeted video and said, "Storm damage near Eagle Mountain Lake waterfront home in #FortWorth. Homeowner says this dock flipped on to his property while he and his wife were inside a laundry room waiting for storm to pass."

The Timber Creek High School Band in Keller ISD tweeted during the tornado warning, "After careful consideration, we have decided to cancel tonight's concert. Any students still in the school are taking shelter."

Texas Women's University Emergency Management in Denton tweeted a warning to students and faculty, "A TORNADO WARNING has been issued for the TWU Denton campus. Take immediate action by going inside a sturdy building and taking shelter in an interior room on the lowest floor possible."

Students at the University of North Texas in Denton also took shelter during the storm.

CBS 11 reporter Jason Allen reported heavy rain and multiple lightning strikes in Denton.

The Argyle Fire Department told CBS 11, eight homes have flooded in the neighborhood at Skyline Dr. and Valley View Ct. Swift water rescue crews were called in, but luckily no residents had to be rescued.
Affected homeowners experiencing anywhere from a half a foot to two feet of water inside their homes.

Viewer Brian McFall shared images from North Denton of a drainage canal overflowing from the heavy rain.
