FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Lightning struck the infield of Texas Motor Speedway.

It happened around 6:10 p.m. last Thursday in the backstretch of the road course according to TMS.

The damaged asphalt was 18 inches in diameter and 5-and-a-half inches deep.

A TMS spokesperson said asphalt flew around 150 feet from the spot.

TMS said crews are fixing the spot with "cold patch asphalt" which is the same compound used on the oval track when there is any damage.
