Dallas Teen Missing For 8 Days Found In Denton County

DENTON COUNTY (CBS 11 NEWS) - It's a sight relatives have waited eight days for: 18-year-old Alejandra Gonzalez safe and sound.

When asked how she was doing, she didn't answer.

Denton County Sheriff Will Travis is thankful the teenager is alright. "She was in good health, and did have some scratches from being out all night long. But other than that, very good health."

Sheriff Travis says a homeowner, along Orchard Hill Lane in Copper Canyon, spotted Gonzalez in her backyard around 11:30 Thursday morning and called 911.

The Sheriff said when deputies found Alejandra they asked her some questions. "She didn't say much. She was very quiet."

No word yet how the teen got up to Denton County from Dallas and where she has been since 1 p.m. on April 23rd when her family says she left Sunset High School.

Denton County Sheriff's deputies began an exhaustive search Wednesday evening, which lasted into the night and into the morning both on the ground and in the air.

The search in the area began after homeowner Carmen Craig says she and her roommate spotted Gonzales yesterday, then called 911. Craig said, "We rolled down the window and I asked her are you okay? And she said yes, but you could just tell she was scared."

Dallas police took Gonzalez back to their headquarters, where her relieved family waited.

Detectives are interviewing her to try to determine where she has been.
