Child Found Safe After Dallas SWAT Arrests Kidnapping Suspect

UPDATE: The man charged with kidnapping has been identified as Glenntrik Deon Jamaal Morgan, 29, of Dallas.

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - SWAT team members and dozens of officers from the Dallas Police Department spent hours at an apartment complex in southwest Dallas after a man barricaded himself inside with a young child.

The incident started when the man allegedly kidnapped his girlfriend from the Galaxy Drive-In Theatre in Ennis late Tuesday night. Officials in Ellis County say they had issued an arrest warrant for the suspect, whose name has not been released, when the man brought the woman to Dallas and dropped her off at her mother's home.

Dallas police were searching for the suspect when they received information he was in the 3800 block of Walton Walker Boulevard at the Walker Place Apartments.

Police had gone to the location to serve the kidnapping arrest warrant when the man locked himself inside an apartment with a child believed to be a toddler. After surrounding the complex police eventually took the suspect into custody and found the child unharmed.

It isn't known if the child was related to the suspect or how the youngster got inside the apartment, but officials confirmed the child had no connection to the original kidnapping.
