DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Stars needed a win or a Blues loss to seal up the top seed in the Western Conference. On Saturday night, they got both.

Jason Spezza powered the Stars to a 3-2 win over the short-handed Nashville Predators. Spezza recorded his second hat-trick of the season after the Stars went down 2-0 in the second period.

Dallas finishes the season as the Central Division Champs. It's the first time they've won a division championship in the last ten seasons.

They end the season with 109 points, second to Washington's 120 points.

Washington had a player get a hat-trick of their own in St. Louis on Saturday night. Forward, and likely Hart Memorial Trophy winner, Alexander Ovechkin scored his 48th, 49th and 50th goals of the season in a 5-1 route of the Blues.

Dallas will play the Minnesota Wild in the first round of the playoffs starting next week.
