Dallas Psychologist Pleads Guilty To Billing Fraud
DALLAS (AP) -- A Dallas psychologist has pleaded guilty in a nearly $2 million federal workers health care scam including false claims of treating a patient daily for years.
Prosecutors say 62-year-old Michael Ellis Wolf was taken into custody Wednesday after pleading guilty to health care fraud. He faces up to 10 years in prison during sentencing later this year.
Wolf provided psychotherapy to U.S. government workers who were hurt on the job or had employment-related illnesses. Prosecutors say Wolf filed false claims for services not completed or done on a limited schedule.
Wolf claimed he provided therapy for one injured federal employee, from 2008 through mid-2013, seven days a week. Investigators say Wolf only offered assistance a couple of times a week or exaggerated the amount of therapy done.
