DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) — Dallas police are searching for a murder suspect who they say shot 20-year-old Davolya Lewis multiple times on March 4; Lewis died from his injuries Saturday.
The arrest warrant affidavit filed by police named 21-year-old Corey Freeman as the suspected shooter.
Police say officers responded to the shooting at 3150 E. Ledbetter Dr. around 1 p.m. on March 4. Lewis was taken to a hospital, where he was in critical condition, according to the affidavit.
A witness said she heard a verbal argument and a gunshot outside of a store, and when she looked outside she saw Freeman fire a gun at Lewis and run away, according to the affidavit. Police say the witness then went to the department and made a recorded statement. Police identified Freeman through the department's gang unit and showed the witness a photo line-up, which resulted in Freeman's identification as the suspected shooter, the affidavit said.
Police are asking those with information to call 911 or report an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers at 214-373-TIPS.
