Police: 4-Year-Old Fermin Fuentes Was Never In Any Danger, Was With Mother The Whole Time

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Four-year-old Fermin Fuentes, who was reported as missing after he was allegedly in a vehicle that was stolen, was found safely by Dallas police, and authorities say he was never in any danger and was with his mother the whole time.

The report of the missing child first came out after a vehicle was reported stolen in the 2200 block of South Buckner Boulevard at around 6 p.m. Sunday.

An Amber Alert was issued for Fuentes after it was reported that he was inside the vehicle.

Later in the evening, police said they found the vehicle in the 8100 block of Rylie Road and took two men and a woman into custody in relation to the stolen vehicle. The child was not with the three people.

However, during the investigation, police said they found "inconsistencies" in the report by Fuentes' father.

According to police, Fuentes' father told authorities that the child's mother was in Mexico and couldn't be contacted. However, the 4-year-old was later found safely with his mother.

Police said the father has not been taken into custody as they determine if he will face any charges.

The Amber Alert for the child was discontinued.
