Armed Suspect Killed By Dallas Police
UPDATE: The man killed by police was identified as Alton Folmar.
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in which a 28-year-old suspect was killed.
It happened around 5:00 p.m. Monday near the 10700 block of Eastham Drive in the Pleasant Grove area.
Dallas Police said officers were responding to an active shooter call and looking for a man who fired shots into a neighbor's house.
The officers could hear a disturbance inside a nearby home, including a woman and infant crying.
Officers gave commands to the suspect to come to the door and when he came to the door he had a gun and at least one officer shot and killed the suspect, police said.
A woman in the home with the suspect was injured with "significant lacerations" but her condition is not known.
Police said preliminary information suggests the suspect assaulted the woman and threatened to kill her and the infant.
Neighbors told CBS11 they heard about six gunshots.
The people who had shots fired into their home said there had been ongoing issues with the shooter.
The officer involved is Officer Darren Burch. Burch, assigned to the Southeast Patrol Division, has been with Dallas Police for nearly five years.
Burch was not injured.
