Dallas Police Looking for Driver Who Sexually Assaulted Woman in Uptown

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas police are asking for the public's help finding a sexual assault suspect.

Investigators say the victim got into a black SUV in the 2900 block of McKinney Avenue in Uptown around 3 a.m. Saturday.

Investigators say the victim ordered a ride from an app-based car service, and cancelled that request for a ride.

"I'm also aware that it's a practice for some individuals – whether affiliated with those app-based services or not – to provide rides for cash. So at this point we're not able to confirm whether or not it was from an app-based service or someone posing in that regard," said Major Max Geron with the Dallas Police Department.

Police say the women believed she was being taken home, but when she realized that was not happening, she demanded to be let out.

"However, the subject driving the vehicle drove her to an undisclosed location where he subsequently sexually assaulted her," Geron said.

Surveillence video shows the suspect pulling into the parking lot of the Chevron at Fitzhugh and Central Expressway around 3:30 to 4 a.m. The victim was let out of the vehicle, and called police.

Investigators are asking anyone who recognizes the vehicle or the driver in the video to call Dallas Police.

"It's definitely scary, being as I go out all the time with my girls and there's not a lot of guys. We're all single so it's a red flag for sure. You want to feel comfortable and safe when you're trying to get home," said Anna Nguyen, who works and lives in Uptown.
