Dallas Firefighter Injured While Battling House Fire

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A firefighter with Dallas Fire-Rescue was injured around 6:51 p.m. Saturday in the 4700 block of Chilton Dr.
When crews arrived to the southeast Dallas home this evening, they could see heavy smoke and a little fire coming from the roof in the back.
Roughly 55 firefighters went into to fight the blaze, but were called out when the one-story residential home bumped up to a 2-alarm response.
The 2-alarm response initiated a defensive attack. Three people were inside the home when the fire started, and all made it out safely.
One firefighter, whose name is unknown, was hurt in the blaze.
The male firefighter, reportedly a 5-year DFR veteran, suffered burn injuries. Sources tell CBS 11 News he is in very serious condition.
The sources say the burns are up to 3rd degree, and cover 35 percent of his body.
Crews say he was awake and talking to paramedics in the back of the rescue unit before leaving the scene.
Sources say he is now recovering at Parkland Hospital.
A spokesman for DFR says his family is asking for privacy during this time, and doesn't plan on releasing any information on his condition.
It's unclear how long his recovery will take.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
