Dallas Fire Rescue Battling 4-Alarm Apartment Fire

Story updated 8:15 p.m. The firefighter who was injured during this incident is expected to be ok and will likely go go home from the hospital tonight. The fire is contained at this time. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A 4-alarm fire is raging at a northeast Dallas apartment complex.

It was about 6:30 p.m. when Dallas Fire Rescue was called to the blaze at Oak Trails Villas, in the 9400 block of Timberleaf Drive.

The apartment complex is 99-percent unoccupied. The one resident living in an apartment wasn't home when the blaze started, but firefighters did rescue a dog from the residence. The Red Cross is helping the family.

The view from Chopper 11 showed flames shooting through the roofs of several units.

The apartment complex is near the intersection of Interstate 635 and Forest Lane.

One DFR firefighter received minor burn injuries.
