Dallas Driver Seriously Injured After Being Struck By Woman In Gold Sedan While Getting Out Of His Car

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas Police are trying to find a the driver of a gold sedan who they say struck a 45-year-old man while he was getting out of his vehicle.

Police said the incident happened around 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 2700 S. Harwood Street.

The victim, Al Brothers, sustained serious bodily injury and was taken to an area hospital in stable condition.

Brothers says he's in a lot of pain and wants the woman who is responsible for it arrested.

"All I heard was the engine by the time I turned back around she hit me head on," he said. "I honestly thought that I was dead until I started feeling a lot of ringing and then a numbness in my body and then some pain."

Brothers, who spoke to CBS 11 from his hospital bed, said he suffered a broken foot, fractures in his legs and cracks in his pelvis.

"As I was going straight down Colonial, the lady behind me was trying to pass and she ended up going around to the left and circling the block and cut me off."

What he thought was a simple disagreement on the road, escalated.

He said the woman threw something at the van he was driving.

"I threw my coffee back, which I was wrong for that," Brothers admitted. "That escalation I could never have fathomed that in a million years that that would happen."

Brothers said he still has to have another surgery and then therapy.

He said he forgives the woman and doesn't want what happened to him, to happen to anyone else.
