Dallas Cowboys Week 8 Injury Report: Tony Romo Returns To Practice

By Shawn S. Lealos

The Dallas Cowboys injury report has included all three of last year’s major offensive weapons in running back Darren McFadden, quarterback Tony Romo and wide receiver Dez Bryant. While the Cowboys have still not reactivated McFadden from the injury report despite him being back to strength, both Romo and Bryant were back to practice this week. Here is a look at the Dallas Cowboys injury report for Week 8 of the 2016 NFL season.

Tony Romo is Back at Practice

Tony Romo was back at practice this week. Early in the week, Romo was out throwing the ball and then on Thursday, he hit the practice field in pads and a uniform throwing the ball as well. However, there is no intent to put Romo back on the field yet. Dak Prescott has the Cowboys at 5-1 and there is no reason to mess with the consistency of the team right now. The word is that the Cowboys won’t put Romo back out there until he is 100-percent recovered from his most recent injuries. The more that Prescott wins, the less likely Dallas is to bring Romo back anytime soon.

Dez Bryant Plans to Return This Week

However, Dez Bryant has said that he fully intends to play on Sunday night against the Philadelphia Eagles. Bryant has missed more games than he has played the last season and a half. He would be one more weapon to the Cowboys already lethal offense this season. Tight end Jason Witten continues to play through injuries and should play this week despite appearing on the injury report at questionable.

Also making his return this week for the Dallas Cowboys is cornerback Orlando Scandrick. Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne have played great this season and having Scandrick on the field as a third cornerback should really help the Cowboys in their secondary. Claiborne came out to play two weeks ago, despite an injury and ended up with a concussion. He has had two weeks to recover and is questionable this week. This is the first time that the Cowboys have been at full strength at cornerback this season.

Philadelphia Eagles Heading Into Game Without Run Stopper

One of the Dallas Cowboys top weapons is running back Ezekiel Elliott, the current NFL rushing leader. Heading into the game, the Eagles will be without one of their top run stoppers in Bennie Logan, who will miss his second game with a groin injury. Beau Allen is replacing him at defensive tackle. Linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill is also out with a hamstring injury. The other top injured Eagles all practiced in full this week in linebacker Mychal Kendricks, wide receiver Jordan Matthews and tackle Jason Peters.
