Dallas Cowboys Free-Agent Lance Dunbar Visiting 49ers

IRVING (105.3 THE FAN) - For the last few years, Cowboys Nation has wondered whether Lance Dunbar could be their "Darren Sproles.''

Now, it seems, Chip Kelly — who coached Sproles in Philadelphia but now coaches the 49ers — wonders the same thing.

San Francisco is scheduled to host Cowboys free-agent scatback Dunbar today as they search for backfield help in support of starter Carlos Hyde.

The explosive Dunbar was on his way to his best season before he was lost for the year in October at New Orleans when he sustained  a torn ACL and partially torn MCL. Dunbar isn't a full-time back, but in Sproles-like fashion, caught 21 passes for 215 yards in five games.

The Cowboys are searching for running back help themselves, with Dunbar still a candidate to return and names like Bilal Powell and Alfred Morris possibly in play.
