Dallas Cowboys, AT&T Stadium Save Prom For North Texas Seniors
ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Some North Texas seniors will not have to cancel their prom after all, thanks to a big donation from two big organizations.
As CBS 11 reported last week, plans for the South Garland High School prom were sidelined when the original venue booked by the school went out of business.
That's when the Dallas Cowboys and AT&T Stadium stepped in. After hearing about the story, the stadium's special events coordinator reached out to the school to work out a deal. Upon learning the students had raised $15,000 to cover prom night expenses, AT&T Stadium agreed to cover the difference so the students will have a night to remember. It's a dream come true that some of the students still can't believe.
"This could be some of the last days we're going to spend with my classmates, so just having one night to just let loose and have fun and actually live as a kid for once, it's important to us," said South Garland High senior Allen Capasgordo.
The senior class officers say they started planning for prom when they were sophomores. They were devastated when they learned the owner of their original venue decided to close his business before their prom night. That owner has agreed to refund the students down payment deposit of more than four thousand dollars.
The South Garland High prom is next month.
Since their story aired on CBS 11, several people and businesses, including the Texas Rangers, have offered to help the students.
