Dallas County Passes Eighth Consecutive State Jail Inspection

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – After a week-long inspection, the Dallas County Jail passed for the eighth consecutive year.
Fred St. Amant, inspector with the Texas Commission on Jail Standards, thanked Sheriff Valdez, the executive chiefs, and all of the jail staff for their assistance during the inspection.
"Even though this was an unannounced visit, the inspection went well, the facilities were very clean, and the North Tower Jail looked the best it has ever been," said St. Amant. This was the second inspection in 2016.
The positive results meant plenty of thanks were handed out.
On behalf of Sheriff Valdez, Executive Chief Jesse Flores thanked all of the employees, Parkland Hospital, and Dallas County Facilities for a great job. Chief Flores thanked the Texas Commission on Jail Standards and Commissioner John Wiley Price for their leadership.
Commissioner John Wiley Price thanked the Commission, Parkland Hospital, the Dallas County Sheriff's Department, and Dallas County Facilities for a successful inspection.
"Thank you for working extremely hard. We continue to meet all of the standards of the Texas Commission on Jail Standards. Congratulations on the eighth consecutive year of passing."
The Dallas County Sheriff's Department will receive an official certificate of compliance.
