Dallas County Adopts Tighter Purchasing Rules
DALLAS (AP) - Dallas County will have tighter purchasing rules based on a 2009 consultant's report and nearly a month after a commissioner was indicted on public corruption charges.
County commissioners Tuesday unanimously approved the overhaul in a vote that included John Wiley Price. He declined comment about the changes.
Price in late July was charged with 11 federal counts, including conspiracy to commit bribery and depravation of honest services by mail fraud. He's accused of leaking confidential information on county contract bids and accepting nearly $1 million in bribes.

Dallas County will implement more than two dozen recommendations, including limiting the role of commissioners in the procurement process.
Clearer rules will be written on training and county staff involvement in the evaluation of bids.
