DALLAS (AP) — Dallas could be the next stop for Google's fiber optic service that can deliver ultra-fast internet speeds.

Officials with Google Fiber on Tuesday announced they're exploring the possibility of adding Dallas to the list of cities served.

A company statement says Texas has been home to Google Fiber operations or planned offerings the past three years, in Austin and San Antonio.

Google authorities say the next step would be a joint planning effort with Dallas city leaders, similar to a process that kicked off in late 2015 in Chicago and Los Angeles.

A Google statement says the company will use its Fiber checklist to learn more about the Dallas topography, existing infrastructure and other factors that could impact construction.
