DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - The cold and rainy weather expected this weekend has prompted the rare cancellation of one of the biggest holiday events in North Texas.

It's not happened often in the parade's nearly 30-year history, but the Children's Health Holiday Parade in downtown Dallas has been called off with no plans to reschedule because tomorrow's forecast looks so miserable.

This is just the second time the parade has been cancelled.

Other events like Frisco's Merry Main Street were moved because of threat of cold rain. They lit their tree last night.

And in Mesquite, they've moved Christmas In The Park to December 10th & 11th.

Fort Worth's annual parade of lights was held early this year before Thanksgiving.

Several other events are still scheduled to happen.
