DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas Fire-Rescue transported a child to Medical City Dallas Hospital early Tuesday morning after reports of a near drowning. The incident happened at around 4:00 a.m. at a condo located in the 12500 block of Fireglow Walk in northeast Dallas, just north of the LBJ Freeway.

The 22-month-old boy was staying with a relative on the building's ground level. At some point, it appears as though the child wandered outside in the chilly temperatures and into a water feature. Detectives were set up near a small fountain just outside of the condo, in a community common area.

The child's caretaker called police and residents began looking for the boy. One of those residents found him in the water. It is not known how long the child was there.

While conditions were not below freezing on Tuesday morning, parts of North Texas were still under 40 degrees.

The child was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. There has been no update on his recovery. Authorities do not expect to file any charges in this case, calling it a complete accident.
