Dak Prescott Ready To Continue Hot Start

By Shawn Lealos

The Dallas Cowboys have the best record in the NFC at 7-1, which also ties them with the New England Patriots for the best record in the NFL. They have done it with a rookie quarterback and rookie running back who are running neck-and-neck for the Rookie of the Year award. Here is a look at the Dallas Cowboys team news heading into their Week 10 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Ezekiel Elliott Not Worried About Rookie Wall

Rookies don't win the MVP award in the NFL. The closest that anyone came was Jim Brown and Earl Campbell winning MVP awards from voting organizations and Lawrence Taylor winning Defensive Player of the Year. However, there is now talk of Ezekiel Elliott being up for the NFL MVP award. Honestly, there is little chance of him winning it. Tom Brady is always a contender and if the New England Patriots continue to win, he will probably win again. Matt Ryan of the Atlanta Falcons is another huge favorite. However, Elliott isn't worried about individual honors. He just wants to keep helping Dallas win and has no fears of the dreaded rookie wall.

"I've been taking good care of my body," Elliott told the Dallas Morning News. "I feel fresh and just trying to stay on this routine to make sure I stay fresh. I'm not really worried about a rookie wall."

Dak Prescott Ready To Face Big Ben

This week, the Dallas Cowboys play Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers. This is another huge opportunity for Dak Prescott, who said that he grew up watching Roethlisberger play football. Prescott is on a seven-game winning streak, only the third rookie quarterback to achieve that mark. The other two rookie quarterbacks to win seven in a row were Kyle Orton and Ben Roethlisberger.

"He's a great guy to watch and you see defensive linemen can't get him down, he breaks those tackles and still throws the ball deep down the field," Prescott told the Cowboys official website. "It's something I look forward to and hope to do in my career."

Defense Becomes Top 10 Unit

When the 2016 NFL season started, most people felt that the Dallas Cowboys offense needed to play extra hard to make up for a poor defense. Dallas has no pass rushers and they don't force turnovers. That is still true, at least when it comes to sacking quarterbacks and picking off passes. However, when it comes to stopping teams from scoring and tackling, the Dallas Cowboys are exceeding all expectations. It all comes down to coordinator Rod Marinelli getting the most from his players. After beating Cleveland last weekend, Dallas moved into ninth place for team defense.
